Announcement
The Board of the Haida Enterprise Corporation (HaiCo) is pleased to announce that Candace Dennis will be the new Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation.
Candace will join us commencing April 1, 2019 for a three-year term. Ms. Dennis’ extensive experience in finance, banking, and working with First Nations’ businesses and governments, the Haida Nation in particular, will be an important contributor to the next exciting phase for HaiCo. Ms. Dennis was adopted by the Gidins of Skidegate in 2008, and proudly carries the Haida name Jaada GaaJuus (Regal Woman).
Ms. Dennis brings a strong communication style, coupled with managerial and business planning skills that HaiCo needs to take us into the immediate future. Candace was a HaiCo board member, prior to her appointment, and the Board is pleased she has accepted the position and will contribute her considerable experience to the team at HaiCo.
The Board of HaiCo is equally pleased to announce, as the first step in a CEO successorship plan, that a search is being launched immediately for a new Chief Operating Officer, to be filled by a Haida citizen.
Ms. Dennis is establishing a residence on Haida Gwaii and will be present on-island as the business requires. Ms. Dennis believes that being present and involved on Haida Gwaii is important to the success of the CEO of HaiCo.
The Board wishes to express their appreciation for the many years of service the outgoing CEO, Mr. Bob Brash has given to HaiCo, and prior to that, to Taan Forestry. Mr. Brash contributed considerably to the growth of HaiCo and its enterprises - Haida Tourism, Haida Wild and Taan Forestry. We join with our staff and management in wishing Bob all the best in his new endeavours.
